Kingston Meditation Hall

As part of the redevelopment of John Lewis Building / FUSE box along River Thames, provide a meditation venue, overlooking the river, or in alternative RBK green spaces.

Why the contribution is important

Technological changes will provide ever increasing challenges to humanity, unable to keep pace.

A meditation hall to help reflect everyones true creative potential (we are more than our biological bodies) is needed to avoid the mental health epidemic facing all sections of the community. Within the next 10 years, RBK will have 60K residents aged over 60. With the NHS facing everending crisis, meditation has proved fantastic; physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual health, creating an ever expanding virtuous circle - of benefit to everyon.

Thank you

This is a visionary and compassionate proposal that aligns well with community wellbeing goals. The idea of a meditation hall overlooking the river or located in one of RBK’s green spaces offers both symbolic and practical benefits — creating a peaceful, inclusive space for reflection, stress relief, and connection. Given the rising mental health pressures across all age groups and the projected increase in the elderly population, this initiative could become a cornerstone of preventive healthcare and social cohesion. Integrating it into the redevelopment of the John Lewis/FUSE site would also highlight Kingston’s commitment to holistic, future-oriented urban design that values human flourishing as much as economic growth.
