More independent shops

Kingston Council should promote the opening of independent shops in the centre.

One of the ways to do that, could be a tax reduction for independent shops owners and/or for owners of commercial units who rent their space to independent businesses.

Our beautiful centre, destination of thousands of shoppers, has lost its uniqueness and its character because of the presence of far too many chains.

Independent shops offer a more personalised shopping experience and more of a sense of community, attracting more visitors. They often prefer to sell products from more local suppliers, they more directly impact the local economy and they are more mindful of their waste disposal and the environment around them.
