Why no Friends for the Fairfield?
The Fairfield in central Kingston badly needs a friends group, such as most of the other parks and open spaces in Kingston have. There is the Litterpick group, but the Fairfield needs more than we can offer. This becomes more important with the promise of the Kingfisher rising, phoenix-like from its ashes which could lead to increased pressure on this green lung which must remain green and open.
Shurely some of those living around the field could organise something? The good will is there.
Why the contribution is important
The Fairfield belongs to the people of Kingston, not the Council (the full story is here: https://kingstonhistoryresearch.co.uk/ext/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/JOHN-WILLIAMS-AND-THE-FAIRFIELD-V1.pdf It needs to be cared for by the people of Kingston. The need for a watchful eye on the green heart of the town becomes more pressing as a cash strapped council searches for assets with a market value.
