Improvements to Copt Gilders

Copt Gilders needs to be looked at as a Project with regards to its Look, Feel and Support of Local Businesses

Why the contribution is important

We have asked for years for Copt Gilders to be looked at as a project

1.       Insufficient receptacles available  for number of flats for recycling waste and no facility for food waste disposal.

2.       Where to store these bins. At present these are presently sat on the public footpath.  An idea maybe for some form of purpose built unit on the green behind the Neighbourhood Notice Board  at one end of the parade for a communal bin store the collection vehicle parking in the bus bay to collect the bins, this could include a large bin for communal small food waste bags. This would probably have to be done with public money as I cannot see the “landlords coughing up”. It could be made more in keeping with foliage grown up the sides.

 3.       Litter including “dog ends” and “beer cans”.

4.       Parking . There is a parking regime on the east side but not on the West side The owners of the fish shop sufffers from vehicles permanently  parked in the bays outside his permises and his business has a large amount of footfall preordering and then coming to collect but they cannot park.

The verge of the roundabout is not in a good condition and the area would not suffer from having a row of parking bays cut into the centre circle on the West Side ( same side as the fish shop)  but these bays should have the same restriction as the bays on the east side (i.e. 1 Hour no return within 2 Hours),  possibly 10 spaces. There doesn’t appear to be any services or obstructions such as lamp posts etc. apart from a young tree that could be moved; although underground services would have to be checked.

5. Better regime of maintenance in the past the centre island always looked neat and tidy and well kept with daffodils  in the spring . We now see it get very unkempt and the grass allowed to grow long.

The problem of the bins needs to be addressed and I made repeated requests for such action over many years, all ignored by the council. As my business premises are on Copt Gilders, the parking is a problem with clients suffering the same problems as the fish and chip shop. The bins also prevent passengers being able to get out of their cars.
