New walking map for Chessington

I have worked with Community Brain to help develop a walking route around the North part of Chessington, from Chessington North Station, through the Industrial Estate and up through Churchfields and back to the station.

The map was originally conceived to have a second loop which takes you from the Hook Centre along Elm Road and Moor Lane to Church Lane, past St Mary's church and down to the fields next to the A3, round to Devon Way then back up to the Hook shops and Hook Centre.  The two walks then link up.

This would be a great walking route to develop as it explains how the historic routes around Chessington and Hook work and also links people to the countryside at the back of the Merritt Gardens development which many have never experienced.  It therefore has a historic part and a nature part.

Why the contribution is important

It would be great to have funding for the Community Brain to develop this route so that the two maps can complement each other and draw on the rich cultural, social and historical heritage of the area, meeting one of the Community Plan objectives.
