Replacement for Orchard Practice Surgery

Look at building new Health Centre for Chessington North & Hook Ward , a replacement for the old Orchard Practice on the rear of the Moor Lane School Site

Why the contribution is important

The New Secreatry of  Health &  Social Care Right Honourable Wes Streeing has reiterrated the need for New Community Health Centres rather than  just GP Surgeriesbring service nearer to the Patients.

We have seen when Orchard Practice have carried out vaccination programms patients queing in the street and cars circling the nearby roads looking for parking spaces  ( no patient parking on site ) , compare this to The Merritt Health Centre) .

Our MP Sir Ed Davey has been seen to campaign for a replacement site for the Orchard Practice since he was selected in 2019.

The exisitng site is very constricted and is not sutiable going forward for further development and vbast ammounts of money has already been wasted on repairing  and maintaining what is clearly an unsutiablte site. It is time for the issue to be taken seriously and the Residents and well over 8500 patients get to see them  provided with a new Community Helath Centre along the lines of the Meritt Gardens Health Centre for Chessington South & Malden Rushett Ward.

We see the SEND School being built on the Moor Lane Site which is possibly the only plot of Community Land left in the Chessington North & Hook Ward and we are very pleased to welcome the school into our Community.

I beleive there is space for the School with an appropriate  area of recreational space  along with  a new Community Health Centre to co- exist on the Moor Lane Site.

The Health Centre being accessed via Melfrod Close into the rear of the field. The new site is only ½ mile from the existing Orchard Practice Site.

The centre would be served by the 71 bus at 8 -10 min intervals at the existing Melford Close Bus Stop.

Also as compensation to Melfrod Close Residents who would allow the first section of what is at present a private road to be adopted by RBK and take over the maintenance, RBK Highways would construct a mini roundabout in Moor Lane so vehicles exiting Melford Close can turn right on to Moor Lane.

You only have to go and stand in the car park of the Merritt Gardens Health Centre to see there is no real disruption to the surrounding ambience of the area with regard to noise of levels, or flow  of traffic and the centre co-exists right up against the Amy Woodgate Cers Home and they are not affected by the patients using  the Helath Centre nay in fact I would say neither really know the other is there albeiy it is useful that the home and the Mediacl Centre are in close proximity.

Similalry the new Spring school would not be affected by the patiets using the new Moor Lane Health Centre and having a medical centre on their door step must be useful.

This issue has been allowed to be swept under the carpet for far too long and now with the drive from the top ie. Right Honourable Wes Streeting Secretary of State for Health & Social  Care with his investment in Community Health Centres moving away from dedicated GP Surgeries towards Multidisciplinary Sites cutting down on patients trips to Hospitals and our MP Sir Ed Davey putting the Health  & Well Being Services within our Communities top of  his and his parties agenda we need to see this project get off the ground now before its too late and there are no sites for it to be moved to.

Possibly the exisitng Orchard Practice site would be converted into residential maybe rented accomodation for NHS & Police personnel so we can encourage them to come and live and work within our RBK South of the Borough Community.

It's a good idea in theory but traffic flow is going to be a major issue esp at peak times. Moor lane from before that roundabout is terrible in the morning, if you add the new school and people attending a surgery it's going to a disaster.
You are talking about Kingston council sorting this out, take the example of Buckland road and the school traffic, back to back traffic from all directions, moor lane from one end to the other, all down the parade double parked on both roads. The school and council take no responsibility for any of it. They took no notice of residents and listened mainly to the schools requirements. The school has a huge car park but the head teacher won't allow staff to park in it. You have a good lorry that reverses during school times everyday and they don't stop it, whilst kids are walking to school. So I wouldn't like to see more traffic in this area. They need to resolve the issues that are already around Chessington north station, the north parade, moor lane esp by zebra crossing and Buckland road. I don't think they will though.
