Claremont Garden

This garden received a successful upgarde with a new path surface, benches and pond. Can the entire garden please now also receive a serious planting upgrade? The existing shrubs, bushes and trees are not expertly maintained which leads to an increasingly unsightly green space. I would like to recommend this area receiving a proper landscape design that is highly attractive and a Surbiton talking point.

Why the contribution is important

Smarten up our parks.

Super idea 👍 This applies to ALL parks and green spaces.

The way to do this is to sponsor the creation of a public group - Friends of Claremont Park. That is the way that Fishponds Park and Queens Promenade have effected such impressive improvements.

I am aware of the fantastic outcome other friends groups have achieved. Where would we be without them?! I hear that a similar group was tried for Claremont Garden but failed. Hence bringing the idea back as it's still a relevant point. If not a friends group, are there other options tried and tested elsewhere (a hired landscape company, or individuals)? How do other towns in the UK or other countries do it?

As a parent of a kid and dog owner, would love to see also some physical barrier along this park specially on the Claremont rd side as it's a very busy street and the thought of kids or pets running towards it is terrifying (with the park being so narrow they can quicly get to the pavement or rd). Perhaps this could be achieved via clever planting to get 2 in 1 benefit
