Estate agents boards

Far too many Surbiton estate agents totally ignore the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992 which require them to remove their 'Sold' and 'Let' boards witihn 14 days of the completion of a sale or the granting of a tenancy. Rather than paying for storage of unused boards estate agents leave them up in residential streets. This, of course, also affords them free (if illegal) advertising. Many boards remain up for months, sometimes years on end and are very unsightly. Kingston Council's Planning Dept has shown absolutely no interest in challenging the callous disrepect shown by local estate agents for the neighbourhoods in which they ply their trade. Enforcement action is required.

Why the contribution is important

Because how our town looks has quite an impact on how it makes us feel. Streets and blocks of flats littered with expired estate agents boards hardly enhances what remains of the elegant Victorian / 1920s suburb Surbiton used to be. Our town is far more than a marketing battlegorund for the 13 or so estate agents who have offices in Surbiton.
