HOLLYFIELD ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

Hollyfield road is amain link road into and out of Berrylands and is unsafe to drive through and is also unsafe for cyclists and pedestrians due to paked cars on both sides of the road which means weaving in and out of gaps betwen the parked cars.

This road will get even worse if the proposed School gets built with parents dropping off and picking up children.

Even if the School does not get built but is demolished and turned into housing it will still be a nightmare and unsafe.

I propose to have car parking on one side of the road only and a cycle lane on the other side with double yellow lines to prevent cars parking on the cycle lane side

Also there needs to be pedestrian crossings at suitable points along the road to enable safe pedestrian crossings, especially if a school is built,and to allow safe access to the Fishponds park and/ or any housing developments on the road.

In order to make a cycle lane in both directions along Hollyfield road this might entail using a small strip of land gained from the Fishponds park or routing the cycle lane through the park in one or both directions.

It will also need some kind of traffic calming measure, such as Speed Pillows, to reduce deter drivers from exceeding the 20mph speed limit

To make the road safer for pedestrians and cyclists and improve the flow of trafic to and from Berrylands.
