Illuminate the river walk from Surbiton to Kingston

Why the contribution is important

Provides a more aesthetically appealing stroll - especially in the fall and winter months as well as decreasing misdemeaner crime. It also may have the effect of increasing foot traffic back from Kingston business establishments later into the evening

That would contribute to light pollution and have adverse impact on wildlife.

By that logic, there shouldn’t be any street lights on Portsmouth Road. I’m not suggesting bright, garish lights. For example, throwback gas lighting might be an interesting option.

The promenade is a bat run and additional lighting might be detrimental to their habitats.

Surely there is the potential for a low level lighting plan for the area which is bat friendly and does not impact those who live on Portsmouth Road facing the river??
