Tree planting where most needed

To use the information in the UK Tree Equity scorecard to plant more trees in the parts of Surbiton that need them most.

The UK Tree Equity scorecard shows the urban areas with the greatest deficiency in tree cover.

The London average tree cover is 20% but some parts of Surbiton have cover as low as 9%.

Why the contribution is important

Urban trees bring multiple benefits for people, climate and nature, providing shelter and shade, linking habitats, absorbing pollution, improving sustainable drainage, and cooling overheated areas.

Every neighbourhood deserves the benefit of trees where they live and accessible woodland in easy reach.

I like this idea and I hadn't heard of the Tree Equity Scorecard before, so thanks for the link.

However, the lowest score I could see on the website in Surbiton was 80% (around King Charles Road).

Some areas were 100% and others between 90%-94%, so it looks like we are not doing too bad on the whole in the borough.

However, I would always support more tree planting!
